Official GEARS Performance Center

GEARS, stands for Golf Evolution And Research Systems.

A full swing club and body tracking system used by PGA pros, club fitters, and club manufacturers to measure and analyze every nuance of a swing, in full 3D, from address to follow-through.

Built on the same technology used by biomechanists and filmmakers, Gears is the most advanced motion capture solution developed specifically for golf.

Featured by Golf Digest, assuring its accuracy and capability in telling you the truth of your swing, an MRI for your golf game.

GEARS at Golf Digest
Interview with Gears Sport Founder & Director Michael Neff

As you begin to use the GEARS 3D Swing Analysis system, you’ll be suited up with a motion-capture suit containing 26 sensors along with eight 1.7 megapixel cameras being set up running at 360 frames per second capturing your swing. They will measure every aspect of your swing, from your body, your club to the ball, with accuracy to less than 0.2mm. (0.2mm is about the thickness of a piece of paper).

How GEARS Works in the Studio

What Does GEARS Offer?

Data. Lots of it.

Gears analyzes over 600 images per swing, in less than a second. Because both the grip and head are tracked, that data provides significant insight into a swing, even including shaft deflection—information that cannot be obtained by tracking the grip alone. The complete club and body motion data includes:

  • Full Swing Path

  • Impact Location

  • Clubhead Speed

  • Deflection Droop

  • Shaft Deflection

  • Face Heading

  • In/Out Path

  • Loft

  • Lie

  • Angle of Attack

  • Shoulder Angle

  • Hip Angle

  • Knee Angle

  • Toe Angle

  • Spine Angle

  • Major Body Lines

  • Kinematic Sequence
